Firm Overview

The firm that would eventually become Hall, Bloch, Garland & Meyer, LLP, has been continually in existence since the latter part of the Nineteenth Century when John J. Hall returned to Macon from his position as Assistant Attorney General in the Grover Cleveland administration. His chief client was the Georgia Southern and Florida Railway Company which is now a part of Norfolk Southern Railway Company and still a major client of the firm. In the early part of the twentieth century, John J. Hall was joined by J.E. Hall (1876-1945) a fine trial lawyer and Charles J. Bloch (1983-1974), a leading attorney on constitutional law and later by Ellsworth Hall, Jr. (1908-1984), a specialist in railroad law as well as governmental law. The firm, founded on the principles of hard work and a commitment to helping those in need, steadily grew during the following decades into a full service law firm. In 2010, the firm began merger discussions with the Atlanta firm of Crowley & Clarida LLP which resulted in the 2011 merger of the two firms, retaining the name Hall, Bloch, Garland & Meyer LLP. With the addition of the Atlanta lawyers from Crowley & Clarida LLP, we are well placed to service our clients anywhere within the state of Georgia.
